I love this school with a collosal passion already!

To celebrate the last Friday before the school year begins, we had Noise Parade.

Noise Parade is where the entire school dresses up in ridiculous costumes and bangs on pots and pans and other noisemakers and carries torches and sparklers and lights fireworks and dances in a large parade throughout the entire campus. There are floats and it is extremely theatrical. I was wearing a gold tinsel boa, a silver sparkley halter top, black sequined pants, pink poka-dotted tights, a pink ribbon, and pink sunglasses. I looked like a tinsel sparkle fairy.

There is such a sense of community when you are dancing around madly banging a pot and pan or carrying a torch. Everyone is so liberated and so happy--and it's an original type of fun where the more ridiculous and the louder you are, the more fun it is for the entire community.

I spoke to my advisor yesterday and I'm pretty psyched for class to start on Monday. We have a little lecture on what to expect from Hum (the required course on Greek/Roman humanities--our syllabus has Homer and Sophicles and Plato and Aristotle and all those dead white guys) in about an hour.
